You probably know that there are several things you’ll need to do to keep your pearly whites healthy and strong. For example, you may understand that brushing and flossing are important. You probably also know that you should schedule two appointments with us every year. These appointments will give our team a chance to identify and recognize issues you might not be able to identify yourself. You should also watch your own smile and call our team if you notice anything that worries you. Still, while watching for signs of trouble is important, do you know how you might be able to recognize a cavity?

Luckily, there are a number of signs you can watch for. As you might have guessed, one of the most common signs of a cavity is a pain in your teeth, and you might have a cavity if you experience pain when you bite? Sensitive teeth is another issue you may want to be aware of, as are black or brown spots, and visible holes in your teeth. If you notice any of these symptoms, we recommend contacting our team right away.

However, please note that these symptoms may be difficult to notice on your own. You’ll often recognize pain before you spot any issues because cavities often form on your back teeth. This is partially because your back teeth are harder to clean than your front teeth simply because they can be more difficult to reach ad to clean thoroughly.
