Holiday travel, putting up decorations, finding that perfect gift, baking treats and attending parties: the holidays aren’t always as relaxing as they first seem to be! As you’re taking the time to enjoy this season, we hope that you maintain your oral hygiene routine to maximize the welfare of your teeth and gums. Here are some additional tips to keep you on track during the holiday season:

Of course, as the old saying goes, don’t forget to pack your toothbrush! Keeping a travel toothbrush, a tiny bit of floss and a tube of toothpaste in your toiletries bag should be a priority year-round. Take three minutes at the end of every day to brush and floss your teeth; you’ll be grateful you did when you don’t have to get oral fillings! (If you have guests visiting, think about leaving a few tubes of new toothpaste in the bathroom they’ll be using.) If you have a dental visit scheduled during the holidays, make sure to keep it by scheduling your other to-dos around it. You won’t be able to enjoy the holidays to their utmost with throbby teeth. Finally, avoid excessively sugary foods like juices, candies and some alcohols that can dry out your oral cavity and build plaque.
